The Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Martin Pakula announced on Tuesday 5th October that the next round of funding is available for Business Events to be hosted in Regional Victoria. This includes the Mornington Peninsula.
Applications are now open for eligible events including; conferences, trade exhibitions, workshops, and seminars to be held before the 31 December 2023. The expanded program offers increased funding up to $25,000 per applicant in regional Victoria and will be administered by the Melbourne Convention Bureau and Business Events Victoria.
The cash injection can be used to offset costs such as accommodation, venue hire, transport and other associated event costs when hosting on the Mornington Peninsula. The focus continues to be on domestic business events and is designed to stimulate short-and-medium term recovery of the business events sector. The new funding stream will give regional communities the opportunity to welcome a new set of visitors.
Grants up to $10,000 are available for business events with up to 700 delegate days and at least 40 percent of delegates using local accommodation, while grants up to $25,000 are available for business events with more than 700 delegates days and at least 40 percent of delegates using local accommodation.
To qualify, events must be a business to business (B2B) regional, state or national event for at least 25 delegates, for a minimum two-day business event program.
